Halloween 2014

In years past, I have been a big Halloweener. Needless to say, going to the University of California Santa Barbara, Halloween was always a big deal.

This year, I wanted to take things a little more mild. I have my first big paper due this Tuesday, so Halloween was reduced to a simple day this year. I took a walk through the beautiful Dane John Gardens of Canterbury. The area is a public park with history that stretches back to the 12th century!

It is a park dominated by memorials and a grand city wall. Because one sees it when one takes the Uni Bus to the downtown area, it was exciting to finally explore the park.

By the end of the night, I had half the mind to go downtown and check out the Halloween spirit of Canterbury. Instead, the draw of watching Hocus Pocus with my fiancée proved to be stronger, and we settled in for a cider, some candy and a movie before bed.
